Sip or Sink
Awareness Campaign
For this project, we were given the opportunity to choose whatever topic we wanted that we felt needed to be solved. This topic also had to relate and be shared with primarily college students (ages between 18-25). We were to display our topic and solutions around campus for students to see. I chose to limit alcohol consumption and my topic as most students in college will drink alcohol but limiting is where I felt some struggle with. I created a mural that included some facts along with the levels of intoxication, wall decals with quick facts, and an event for students to participate in.

“
In 2021, 53% of full-time students drank alcohol in one month.

Spreading the Message Around Campus
Our Event
Be Responsible. Catch A Ride!
Our event is an obstacle course that challenges students to test their driving skills while simulating what it would be like if they were drinking previously. We would have students in a golf cart, wearing vision-impaired goggles, and have them drive around obstacles. This will help show students that even if they think they are well enough to drive after drinking, it’s always more responsible to catch a ride with someone sober.
Message Received!
We strive to have students leave not only with the important message of Sip Or Sink but also with takeaways that will help spread the word and also remind them on a daily basis.
We wanted to provide the participants with gift cards for Uber and Lyft, popular rideshare platforms that were deliberately created to keep those who have been drinking off the road and away from drunk driving. The Sip Or Sink sunglasses will help remind the students of the feeling of the vision-impairing glasses worn during the obstacle course and help remind them to stay off the road when they’re out drinking.
Staying Connected
Social Media
Because we geared this campaign towards college students, we know that the way we can continue to share our message consistently would be through social media. Primarily using Instagram, we aim to share fun, eye-catching posts that will be shown throughout the week, focusing mainly on the weekends as those days are when people drink the most.
